Rob Newberry is the Director of Education Technology for the Chatsworth Group of Schools in Singapore, where he works with teachers and students on finding meaningful ways of integrating technology into the classroom, while emphasizing the importance of a strong digital citizenship curriculum.
Described as “the antihero of education technology”, Rob has given dozens of presentations and workshops around Asia including a talk on emerging technologies in the classroom at TED India. He was the curator of two TEDx events in Asia, and his topics have included video games, online romance scams, the end of student blogging, and the rise (and danger) of “EduCelebrities”.
Most recently, his focus has been on looking at research and data around the negative effects of online life on children, immediate gratification, and the effects that pornography has on the teenage brain.
In his spare time he is an avid toy collector and is producing a documentary film with Colin Gallagher about toy collectors in Singapore entitled New In Box.
