Matthew Moss High School
Matthew Moss High School serves an economically deprived urban community in the North of England. Half the 800 learners have English as an additional language, half are supported with free school meals and a quarter have a disability or special educational needs.
High ability learners beat averages in national exams and longitudinal research shows that Matthew Moss High School learners make stronger progress than peers from other schools when they continue at college.
The school is lauded for the quality of its personal development provision for learners and is presented as an example of best practice in the UK government’s latest Parliamentary Review of secondary schooling.
