Creating a culture in which innovation can spark
International Schools Services (ISS) has developed a strategic approach to sparking creativity and innovation across its schools. Using the framework below, ISS schools develop supportive cultures in which new ideas and practices flourish.
- Create a vision
- Enable environments
- Activate communities
- Transform learning
Creating a vision focuses on the compelling case for change in schools. With industry leaders removing degree requirements, colleges accepting students via portfolio and students pursuing their own entrepreneurial endeavours, schools need to reimagine what learning looks like in their respective contexts.
Enabling environments addresses the need for new types of learning spaces (both physical and digital) to support contemporary pedagogies. It also endorses the effective use of technology and establishment of robust infrastructure to support the learning process.
Activating communities values the de-privatisation of practice so that great teaching and learning permeates the classroom wall. Educator’s are not only given the agency to explore new ideas and initiatives but also platforms to share and reflect on their practice.
Transforming learning completes the loop with research informed pedagogies and curriculum that provide students with personalised, authentic and challenging learning experiences.
