Dr. Aaron Reedy is a working scientist, entrepreneur, and one of those science teachers you dreamed of having. In pursuit of great education for his students, he has kayaked the Mississippi River to study pollution and immersed kids in studies of climate change while censusing wild turtle populations. Together with his high school students, Reedy published professional-level research conducted in their public-school classroom on Chicago’s south side. Reedy is currently a US National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Biology at Auburn University, using lizards on small islands to study the evolution of sex differences in aging. He is a public advocate for collaborations between scientists and teachers and has spoken on the subject at events including TED, TEDx, TEDActive. Aaron recently founded DataClassroom to produce digital tools that help students around the world in grades 6-12 build quantitative skills and think like scientists.
