Building a Culture of Outdoor Learning at Korea International School

Learning Spaces

23 November 2021 (Tuesday) - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Faced with restrictions for off-campus experiential learning in the wake of Covid-19, the Applied Learning team at Korea International School pivoted our strategy to focus on promoting nature and outdoor education without ever leaving the campus. By working with elementary students’ design plans, teachers, and the local facility team, we transformed three under-utilized spaces into vibrant outdoor learning centers over the course of a year. Using a toolbox of lean management strategies, we were able to create cultural change and build supporting systems for sustainable use of these outdoor learning spaces in years to come.
