Inspire Digital Creativity – Not Just Coding, but also To Play and To Think

STEAM

Computational Thinking (CT)-coding education can play a key role in helping students build their problem-solving skills while nurturing them to be creators rather than just consumers of technology. What surprises the team most is that through incorporating CT in the curriculum, teachers’ pedagogy changes drastically, not only in teaching computational thinking, but also on other subject areas as well! The team has observed, across multiple schools, that they became more vibrant, more willing to accept changes, and more able to create a welcoming atmosphere in the classroom. Our learners are most definitely our beneficiary.

“Our kids are transforming from a toddler who’s always waiting for instructions to an active learner who wants to solve problems themselves.”

Learners start from making game apps to apps that help teachers collect overdue homework; from assembling Lego to creating movable robotic arms for disabled people.

This presentation will show you how the curriculum can be adapted to implement CT-coding education in school. The teachers who are all involved with the  “CoolThink@JC” will also share with you some topics for coding education, effective tools and resources that you can utilize in your school, and ideas on how to motivate students to play, to think, and to code.
