Towards strategic co-agency at MYP and beyond – promoting dialogue in learning technologies selection across subjects

Online Learning Education Technology Student Voice

25 November 2021 (Thursday) - 09:00 AM - 10:00 AM

The spread of Covid-19 required schools to move swiftly to an online or a blended learning environment which brought learners closer digitally and yet distanced them physically. As schools transition between online, blended and face-to-face learning environments, student agency surrounding technology is an important theme. In a technology pervasive environment, a key issue for students and teachers is choosing technology tools from the plethora available. The technology chosen by the student or teacher needs to enhance and further learning.

This presentation looks at a framework that can be adapted to the school context for supporting co–agency between students and teachers to build a comprehensive repertoire of transferable technology skills. The framework is based on the latest academic research on how students learn with technology and teacher and student questionnaires from an international school in Hong Kong. The presentation is suitable for teachers, school leaders, and anybody with an interest in today’s edutech landscape, to explore co–agency with students to create a technology infused learning environment.
