Matt’s first book was published in 1983 and since then he has gone on to become one of Australia’s most popular children’s author/illustrators for works such as Requiem For A Beast, Home and Away, No Kind of Superman, Parachute, Teacup and The Incredible Freedom Machine. Matt is also a composer and has written music to accompany many of his stories. He has won numerous awards including this year’s 2021 Children’s Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year award for the stunning How To Make A Bird which was written by Meg McKinlay. Matt lives in the beautiful rainforest mountain area of northern NSW.
